ABLASS/ABLAX Status

current known problems

Currently the VME CPUs operated with LynxOs can not boot via ARPA as a new gateway between the GSI and ACC network prevents this unfortunately. A work-around by booting within the ACC network is temporary established.

present work on Ablass/Ablax

  • Work on integration of 2 additional 32-Channel-Scalers in Ablass and Ablax. So finally 64 new channels are available.
  • Next is the integration of database access to the INIT-Database to provide additional info of ion-type, energy, beam line etc, calculation of calibration factors for ion-chambers, and transmission measurements from SIS-transformer to a selected HEBT counter.
  • Restructuring of the multipurpose timing-board for Ablass/Ablax-Timing for higher time-precision, additional clock-outputs (for the new scalers) and preparation of the 2.7Hz cycle operation of SIS18.
  • The VME readout is changed now from single cycle to blockmode readout also for better perfromance with new scalers and 2.7 Hz SIS-cycle mode.

Also on the todo-list

  • data exchange between Ablass/Ablax and the eLog.
  • switchable scale on the dose window (beam loss measurement) between dec and log.
