UNIMON: UNILAC tank signal monitor

DAQ Upgrade:

With the construction of the new FCC (FAIR Control Center) all DAQ systems installed in the Main Control Room (“HKR”) have to be moved or upgraded to be operational in 2024 from the FCC premises.

UNIMON needs a full renovation in soft- and hardware. In addition the complete DAQ system, for the time being installed in the HKR-consoles, needs to be moved to the LSB4 outside of the HKR.

Status:

  • ADC firmware ready
  • Adapterbox production in progress
  • GUI available
  • So far no further requirements from operations defined

Open Issues:

  • No future installation rack in LSB 4 defined.
  • Movement of all Coax cables has a potential risk for damages
  • Unclear, if and how to archive data. Unimon is a dedicated online monitoring system so far.
  • No WR Timing in Main Control Room

Electronics

A system description and an overview of the analog electronics can be found here: UNIMON Electronics

Data Acquisition

The data aquisition will be implemented using a MicroTCA crate equipped with two AFC v3.1 FMC carriers carrying a total of four IOxOS ADC_3117 FMC cards.

Each of the FMC cards carries 20 ADCs with a maximum sampling rate of 5 MHz and a resolution of 16 bits.

FPGA Gateware
