Total renovation of the old MAPS system. Replacement of all old DAQ hardware and measurement concepts. All transformer signals will be digitized in parallel.
A first prototype with readout of a few UNILAC transformers will be presented in the next beam time January 2022. There is a risk as MAPS requires a complex adapter box, which needs to be designed, manufactured and tested in time. Today (16.09.2021) it is in the design phase.
The system will be splitted, so the old MAPS will be still usable, when the new MAPS will be ready for testing. This is true for the signals and not for the pre-amp power supply and range settings.
The SVÜ will not be touched. We need to make sure, that the pre-amp is always powered. SVÜ signals will be converted into TTL pulses and offered to ACO.
A specification from Operations / Product Owner is available here.
A prototype of White Rabbit Timing is now available for first tests. The first release of MAPS will be sorted and based on the 7 existing timing domains.
For the time being LSA @ UNILAC is not available. This has impact on automatic range settings. It is unclear, how many timing domains will be defined later and the consequences for the DAQ system.
MAPS hardware is located at LSB 4 and consists of up to five setups of:
